The Medical Assistant (MFA) works primarily in general practice, internal medicine, surgical, or other specialized medical practices run by private physicians, as well as in outpatient departments of hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, and medical care centers.

The job description of the MFA is characterized by the following areas of responsibility: medical assistance, patient counseling and care, and administration and organization of practice operations.

The MFA works as an assistant in a responsible, independent, patient-oriented, and quality-conscious manner and actively contributes to maintaining and restoring health as part of a practice team.
