Through a generalist training program, trainees gain a comprehensive understanding of nursing, which enables them to quickly familiarize themselves with the respective specialties and their varying requirements. Registered nurses will be able to work in all areas of nursing—acute care, pediatric nursing, inpatient or outpatient long-term care, as well as general, geriatric, pediatric, or adolescent psychiatric care—

The geriatric nurse is responsible for the care of older adults in acute and long-term inpatient as well as outpatient care settings.
The training covers health-promoting, preventive, curative, rehabilitative, palliative, and social care dimensions of nursing practice aimed at maintaining, promote, restore, or improve the physical and mental well-being of those receiving care. In addition, the training includes counseling, support throughout all stages of life, and end-of-life care.
The achievement of educational and training goals is geared toward the acquisition of professional competencies. These competencies unfold across the dimensions of professional, personal, and social competence; methodological and learning competence; and communicative competence.
