State-certified social assistants are graduates of an initial training program in the social services field and work as assistants to the respective professionals. They possess basic skills that enable them to provide support in nursing and social-educational fields.

Social assistants help their clients in health and social service facilities as well as in families and single-person households. In doing so, they support the respective professionals at these facilities and are able to independently carry out the daily tasks assigned to them. They provide nursing, social-educational, and domestic services.

Social assistants work closely with the responsible professionals and actively participate in the joint resolution of tasks as a team. They contribute to the creation of living spaces that promote personal development, as well as to the functional and aesthetically pleasing design of the facilities. They support collaboration with the clients’ family members.
